If you're a reader, you're probably familiar with Goodreads. If not, it's social media for book-lovers. Word on the street is that if an author wants to connect with readers and become an AUTHOR, he or she must have a robust Goodreads presence.
I like the idea behind Goodreads.
BUT...
I read books because I adore books. Reading is an addiction. Once I start, it's hard to stop. When I finish a book, I troll for the next read. If I don't have a book on my Kindle, life is NOT okay. I am not okay.
Must. Have. BOOKS.
What I don't do is keep track of what I read. I don't do challenges. I just...read. And that's how I like it.
How many books do I read in a year?
I dunno. Does it really matter?
Does a lot count?
The idea of scanning, tracking, listing give me hives. I prefer to do things organically. In the moment. Which makes using Goodreads a struggle. For me personally, it takes the fun out of reading. For others, it makes it fun. Probably all the left-brained super organized types find Goodreads joy in and of itself :) I love you guys.
But I'm not you.
If you follow me on Goodreads, and I hope you do, keep your expectations low. I may forget it exsists for months at a time. I will do my best to share books I love. If I remember to post a book I'm reading, I'll do it. But it won't be every book. It won't be everyday.
Also, Goodreads isn't easy to learn to use-especially the author side. So be patient with me.
If you do follow me, follow DJ Gudger, not Darcie J. Gudger. That's my old profile. I can't link it to my new writing endeavors. It's just the way the app is set up. To find me, search The Legacy of Rocking K Ranch. My author name is a link to my profile and you can follow me from there.
What I love about Goodreads is discovering that next book so I am never without something to read.
See you there!
Good reads. I like that it keeps track of every book that I read so I don't have to remember all the titles I read and that it also recommends other titles that I might like
